Milada Paulová Prize

This award for life-long contribution to Czech science has been bestowed by the National Contact Centre – Gender and Science at the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, along with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. Palacký University proudly employs one laureate of this award, ecologist Milena Rychnovská; two other UP female scientists have also been nominated.

Prof. RNDr. Milena Rychnovská, DrSc.

The first winner of the Milada Paulová Prize was Milena Rychnovská in 2009, professor emerita at the UP Faculty of Science. Her research primarily focusses on landscape ecology. Her work has made an important contribution to the identification of the function of meadow plants in the landscape and she has conceived an ecosystem approach, which views plant ecology within the wider context of aquatic and agricultural management. Professor Rychnovská is the founder of the Department of Ecology at Palacký University in Olomouc and has written a number of specialised articles, methodological approaches, and textbooks.
