Science Centres

Palacký University has long been one of the most successful Czech university applicants for financial support under the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation. Thanks to university projects, science-research centres have been erected on the premises of Olomouc, and their significance reaches far beyond the region.

Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine

The institute is a technological infrastructure and platform for performing molecular-oriented basic and translational biomedical research. Scientists endeavour to better understand the molecular basis of human infectious diseases and cancer. Research is aimed at identifying new biomarkers and therapeutic goals.

Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials

The Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM) is a modern centre for research and development of nanomaterials and chemicals that may find application in medicine, biotechnologies, the food industry, and environmental protection. Excellent results have also been achieved by the RCPTM optics experts, who peer into the world of photons and quantum information processing and explore the mysteries of cosmic radiation.

Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research

Centre of the Region Haná is a collaborative project of the Faculty of Science at Palacký University and Olomouc branches of the Institute of Experimental Botany at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Crop Research Institute. The Centre scientists employ technologies and devices that are unparalleled in the Czech Republic and even quite rare in European research institutions.
