The production of the growing volume in publication output is accompanied by an emphasis on quality, which is reflected in the updated List of Excellence created by the expert panel Rady pro výzkum, vývoj a inovace (R&D Council). Results made public in February 2015 came from their methodology of evaluation, one component of which is the new 2nd Pillar. The idea is to support excellence in research organisations which produce above-average quality in science and research.
Among the top twenty percent of evaluated results from the year 2014 are listed eleven research outputs from workplaces in the faculties of Science, Arts, and Theology, which were chosen for the category of Excellence, out of a total of 34. The university success rate in this category thus reached almost 26 percent.
The best showing was made by the Faculty of Sciences, with eight excellent research outputs from the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM), the Department of Optics, and the Department of Zoology. The Olomouc departments of Romance Languages and Theology made the List of Excellence in the Social Sciences.

Evaluation according to Pillar II is based on an assessment of the results that research organizations themselves consider excellent and submit them for expert evaluation. This year's list of Class A consists of 290 results. Link to results (PDF)
